A compulsory tour for everyone with a sweet tooth where we introduce you to Hungary’s coffee and cake culture by presenting Budapest’s most illustrious confectioneries. Decadent pastries, retro treats and the mysterious black soup.
A long long time ago, when Hungary was still part of the Monarchy (and Austrians and Hungarians were not yet quarreling about who invented strudel) the coffee houses of Budapest were the places where the créme de le créme were rubbing elbows. They were also safe havens for artists who spent entire days looking for inspiration crouched over a steaming cup of coffee. Many of our traditional desserts were created in this golden era, but not all – we’ve had our street food desserts as well for a long-long time. On our Budapest Urban Treats tour we’ll taste all these wondrous delights and worry about our weight afterwards.
